KAJIAN METODE FILTRASI GRAVITASI DAN FILTRASI SISTEM VAKUM UNTUK PROSES PENYEMPURNAAN REKRISTALISASI AMONIUM PERKLORAT

Abstract

Recrystallization process aims to improve the purity of ammonium perchlorate. In the process of recrystallization, when the supersaturated condition is reached, crystals will form and still mixed with the solvent. To separate the crystals from the solvent, needed a solid-liquid separation method that can be done either by gravity and vacuum systems filtration. This esearch aims to examine both the method. Based on the result of literature studies there are five techniques of gravity filtration: filter cones, fluted filters, pipette filtration, decantation, hot gravity. While the vacuum filtration systems consist of Buchner and Hirsch funnels depends on the capacity of the solution to be separated. Of the five techniques of gravity filtration, filter cones sould be an option because the process is simple. But for the time fficiency of the process, vacuum filtration system is more recommended because it is more than easy to do, the process is faster than gravity filtration. For the ammonium perchlorate recrystalization  ith a capacity of > 10 mL Buchner funnels can be use. By knowing the right filtration method, it is expected that the crystals obtained from recrystallization can be aken to the maximum, by a simple process in a relatively short time.
