Abstract


The exact and uniform propellant density is needed to get an accurate rocket motor propulsion design. Propellant characteristics will be influenced by its composition and manufacturing process technology. This paper discusses density of various propellant produced using vacuum casting technology. Three types of propellant with different diameter : K-Round, D200 and D550 were prepared and their density were tested. The evaluation and analyses were performed using slurry propellant viscosity and video camera data along the vacuum casting prosess. Based on the experiment it is found that the three propellants have different densities and not uniform in all its parts. D550 propellant has the highest density and uniformity, while D200 propellant is the lowest.
