Abstract

The quiet day pattern is rrelated to investigations on geomagnetic disturbance, such as the calculation of K index and determination of the geomagnetic disturbance level activities at one location. In connection with this phenomenon, many investigations have been done for determining the quiet day models. In this paper we studied the determination of the quiet day pattern model based on 5-quiet day average of the H-component from Tangerang station during 2000 to 2004. From analysis of the 5-quiet days average data we found that the 4 order polynomial equation is suitable to reconstruct the pattern. This result was supported with high correlation value between 4 order polynomial model and H-component data in each 5-quiet days, i.e. of about 0.87 to 0.98. We conclude that the 4 order polynomial model is good enough for quiet day model
