Abstract

The distribution spatial analysis of fishing ground potential zone (ZPPI) is an information analysis and mapping of the zone/region which predicted fishing ground, these information can be derived daily from NOAA and SeaWifs satellite data for the Makassar bay (Balikpapan/Kalimantan Timur region). These information obtained by analysing Sea Surface Tempeature deriving from NOAA satellite and chlorophyle concentration by applying McMillin and Crosby metode on band 4 and band 5 of NOAA data. Based on the observation during 3 month (June until August 2004), The location of fishing ground in the Makassar bay on June 2004 centered around 116 25'33" BT, 1 44'52" LS and than moving to west-North direction arround 116 15'BT, 1 36'40" LS on July, at last, on August the location of fishing ground move south-east direction around 117 35'37" BT, 2 30'41" LS or located arround the west of Mamuju city
