TELAAH INDEKS K GEOMAGNET DI BIAK DAN TANGERANG

Abstract

By processing and analyzing the K index data (geomagnetic disturbance level) from Biak and Tangerang during 1992 to 1999, it is obtained that the greatest frequency distribution of geomagnetic disturbance level is K=7 for Tangerang station and K=8 for Biak station. Correlation coefficient of K index between Tangerang and Biak is 0,68 that means that similarity of geomagnetic disturbance level pattern in Tangerang and Biak is about 68percent, while the difference between them about 32 percent. It may be due to the local factor effects and also the difference of the geomagnetic equipments and the method used in determining K index
